The base is an important part of the aquarium's interior, as many animals dig and seek food in the ground. At the same time, plants must be able to beat roots and absorb nourishment from scratch. This bright, fine bottom with small black stones gives a natural and decorative expression and is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

The fine grain size is safe for burrowing fish, as the sand is not sharp and thus spares sensitive bark and skin. The base layer is uncoloured and emits no undesirable substances to the water, making it ideal for fish, invertebrates and plants.

A bottom heat is recommended for medium or coarse bottom only, as very fine bottom layer does not allow sufficient water circulation.
